We exist to redefine what vertical lift can achieve. We aim to set the global standard for ultra-low-weight, heavy-lift drones that save lives, strengthen logistics, and support national security. Backed by Honeywell and built by a team with decades of aerospace and unmanned systems experience, we transform bold engineering into trusted capability for the world’s most demanding missions.
Learn MorePhoenix Drone is an aerospace technology startup founded by Honeywell Aerospace engineers and scientists with deep expertise in advanced systems design, rapid prototyping, manufacturing, and strategic supply chain development.
Drawing on decades of experience bringing complex aerospace products from concept to production, we help customers accelerate innovation and deploy mission-ready solutions faster than traditional development cycles allow. Our unique combination of engineering expertise, production knowledge, and supplier network resilience enables us to respond quickly to evolving market demands while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.
Through strategic partnerships with leading component manufacturers and research universities, we rapidly develop, test, and refine new technologies—transforming ideas into field-ready products in months rather than years. By involving key suppliers and technology partners from the earliest stages of development, we ensure seamless integration of critical mission-specific components, reduce program risk, and accelerate time to market.
At Phoenix Drone, our mission is simple: deliver innovative, reliable, and scalable aerospace solutions that help our customers achieve their objectives faster, smarter, and more efficiently.
Our dedicated team of professionals brings together decades of experience and expertise to deliver exceptional results.
Supplier Development Engineer and CEO with nearly 20 years of business leadership experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management at ASU. Aaron also brings seven years of service in the United States Marine Corps, where he developed a strong foundation in leadership, discipline, and operational excellence.
Research Scientist formally trained in mechanical and electrical engineering with a doctoral degree with dissertation in applied modeling and control of UAS. He has almost a decade of experience with aerospace systems integration, flight testing, and extensive experience leading multi-functional, geographically dispersed project teams. Shawn’s work and educational experience combined with a lifetime of tinkering in the garage position the team for success in the competition.
Test Engineer formally trained as a photographer, with over 13 years of experience in complex systems integration and flight operations experiments supporting a variety of technology demonstrations across product lines and verticals. Sam is an expert in flight operations logistics, mission planning, and risk management.
Andrew is a multifaceted Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace. With a versatile background spanning Systems, Manufacturing, and Software Engineering, bridging the gap between high-level design and hands-on production reality. Driven by a passion for flight that extends beyond the office, Andrew is a dedicated builder of large-scale RC aircraft. This pursuit serves as his personal laboratory for testing aerodynamics, avionics, and remote-command systems. He is defined by a commitment to precision and the relentless pursuit of “what’s next” in aviation.
Research scientist/engineer with a master’s degree in robotics and bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. Since 2012, he has been building and flying various RC aircraft and multirotors in both professional and personal. He has competed in four previous Design-Build-Fly competitions on university project teams and holds a Private Pilot license.
